Meltio’s state-of-the-art wire-laser metal 3D printing technology is laser metal deposition via directed energy deposition (DED). DED functions by precisely stacking weld beads on top of one another, in wire form, when introduced into the laser generated melt pool.

Meltio offers the ideal platform for large, complex 3D printing, repair, and cladding capabilities. Meltio enables the shift from niche to industrial applications for metal 3D printing.

Meltio’s technology comes packaged in a compact 1.2kW deposition head, host of multiple lasers and capable of processing multiple materials. The bulk of the process is built around metal wire, the safest, cleanest, and easiest to work with metal feedstock.

Meltio allows for parts to be 3D printed in stainless steels, mild steels, nickel alloys, and titanium alloys. Meltio’s compact heat affected zone process results in exceptional mechanics, decreased thermal stress and near isotropic properties, exceeding casting and forging material properties.

Meltio allows for dual wire 3D printing via an automatic process. This enables low cost sacrificial material for supports or non-critical build areas. Dual wire can increase part performance by cladding with higher performance materials or adding new functionality to parts.

Standard SAMM Tech models feature a 3-axis, 8.5 kW spindle with the following characteristics:

Polyworks Software Solutions by Innovmetrics is the industrial metrology software solution for the MetraSCAN 3D system that enables the acquisition and tools and parts, assists in assembly building through measurements in real-time, and oversees the quality of assembled products. Polyworks is also the reverse-engineering software for point cloud processing as well as polygonal, surface and solid modeling.

VXinspect is the dimensional inspection software module for intuitive and integrated inspection of 3D parts. VXinspect enables quality control and quality assurance and allows users to generate reports based on meticulous engineering requirements.

Featuring hybrid metal manufacturing capabilities, MM010S boasts the Meltio DED print head with dual wire and hot wire and the FANUC control system, software, and milling head to post-process parts during the production cycle
