PRESS RELEASE | Snowbird Technologies to Showcase Hybrid Additive Manufacturing at Joint Advanced Manufacturing Symposium 2026

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Snowbird Technologies, a leader in expeditionary equipment solutions for extreme and austere environments, is proud to announce its participation in the Joint Advanced Manufacturing Symposium (JAMS) 2026, taking place August 3–13, 2026, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

 

The inaugural JAMS is facilitated by the 101st Division Sustainment Brigade, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and the University of Tennessee’s Defense Development and Applied Research Center (DDARC). The symposium brings together leaders, innovators, researchers, and operational forces from across government, academia, and industry to accelerate the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies across the Joint Force.

 

Centered on the theme “Advanced Manufacturing at the Tactical Edge,” JAMS reinforces Department of the Army and Department of Defense initiatives to integrate expeditionary manufacturing capabilities into operational environments. The program focuses on enabling on-demand production, increasing equipment readiness, reducing dependence on traditional supply chains, and advancing the technologies, workforce, and partnerships required to support distributed operations.

 

As part of the Hybrid Additive Manufacturing track beginning August 6, Snowbird Technologies will demonstrate its Generation 1 Snowbird Additive Mobile Manufacturing Technology (SAMM Tech) system, Model SAMM-MM010S. The ruggedized, containerized manufacturing platform combines additive and subtractive manufacturing capabilities within a deployable 10-foot ISO shipping container, enabling expeditionary production and repair at the point of need.

 

The Generation 1 SAMM Tech system is equipped with the Meltio M450 laser-wire directed energy deposition (DED) metal additive manufacturing engine integrated with a custom CNC machining platform. This hybrid approach enables operators to manufacture new metal components, repair damaged parts, and perform precision machining operations from a single deployable system—reducing logistics burdens while increasing operational flexibility in austere environments.

 

Throughout the symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to observe live demonstrations of the system and engage with Snowbird Technologies’ engineering team to discuss the role of expeditionary advanced manufacturing in supporting contested logistics, sustainment operations, and operational readiness.
